Post-Concussion Syndrome

Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) refers to a collection of symptoms that persist after a concussion, which is a mild traumatic brain injury typically caused by a blow to the head. While most concussion symptoms improve within a few weeks, PCS can cause lingering issues that last for months or even longer.

Common symptoms of PCS include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, irritability, sleep disturbances, and sensitivity to light or noise. The exact cause of PCS is not fully understood, but it may involve changes in the brain’s chemistry or structure following the injury.

Treatment for PCS often involves a multidisciplinary approach, including physical therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and sometimes medication to manage symptoms. Chiropractic care, particularly upper cervical chiropractic, can help by addressing spinal misalignments that may result from the injury, which could be contributing to symptoms like headaches or dizziness. Chiropractors may also focus on improving overall nervous system function and balance to support recovery and improve quality of life.

“I'm grateful to receive treatment at Dr. Sooley's office when I need it most, and today was one of those days.”

“Doctor Sooley and his staff are amazing. I have been seeing them 5 years now. I can't say enough about how much they have helped me. I was having a lot of different issues. After seeing 12 doctors with no results, my new health care provider, who found a problem with my neck sent me here. He said, and I quote "I want you to go see Dr Sooley. He has this little gun looking thing that has helped a lot of people". So I went, and here we are 5 years later and I'm much, much better because of it. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.”
